Biology and Habits

Camel crickets prefer cool, moist, and dark environments. Outdoors, they are typically found under debris, mulch, woodpiles, and stones. Indoors, they are often found in utility rooms, or damp basements and crawlspaces, especially around sump pumps or areas with standing water. Occasionally, camel crickets enter homes and buildings during hot and dry conditions. 

Control

Elimination of moist harborage near buildings is typically sufficient to prevent infestation. Treat perimeter with a microencapsulated or wettable powder pesticide for chemical control. Sealing openings and installing door sweeps will prevent entry. For infestations already present indoors, apply an appropriately labeled insecticidal spray to the affected areas. Eliminate high moisture areas indoors to discourage reinfestation.
