House crickets prefer dark, warm areas outdoors. Typical locations include garbage dumps, leaf litter, gardens and wood piles. They are strongly attracted to lights and will sometimes congregate in large numbers. House crickets are active at night and hide in dark, warm places during the day. Their diet consists of plants and dead insects outdoors. Indoors, they can cause significant damage by feeding on clothes and fabrics. 

Control

House crickets can be controlled by application of baits around the perimeter, particularly when applied near harborage. An appropriately labeled liquid pesticide can be sprayed as a barrier treatment. Spot or crack and crevice treatments can be helpful in deterring entry. Remove potential harborage and seal openings or install door sweeps and window screens. Install sodium vapor and yellow bulbs to prevent light attraction.
